Barb English has been a professional artist and illustrator for thirty years. She has taught basic design and drawing classes to children and adults at Hartnell Community College in the Workforce and Community Development Department, Salinas, CA, for more than half that time.
Barb has had several exhibitions at the college exhibiting her ceramics and pottery, pastels and colored pencil work. She has also taught drawing to students in the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Program of Monterey County, as she has been a Paraprofessional Educational Sign Language Interpreter for many years.
She has collaborated with teachers of the deaf, illustrating and publishing tri-lingual calendars in English, Spanish and Sign Language.
In Memoriam: Over time Barb has struggled with a number of medical challenges, and sadly, she lost her valiant fight on July 4, 2016. Barb was my dear cousin, and we had a marvelous time collaborating about her compelling illustrations for my book. Although she lived on the West Coast, and my home is on the East Coast, we were connected easily, and fine tuning the expressions, outfits, and moods of the Cooperation Counts Kids was great fun. I shall miss her dearly.
